About
Something I write each week about the nervous system and somatic work, beside the research that published that week, explained in plain language.
Who
My name is Edu. I work with somatic experiencing, and I read a great deal of the research on nervous system regulation because I wanted to know which parts of what I do are actually supported and which parts I had simply absorbed from the people who taught me.
I am not a doctor, a psychologist, or a researcher. I have no clinical training and no laboratory background. Nothing here is medical advice, and I am not in a position to give you any.
Why this exists
The problem in this field is not a shortage of expertise. It is that the research and the public conversation barely touch. Scientists study slow paced breathing, auricular vagus nerve stimulation, interoceptive accuracy. The internet sells vagus nerve resets, ninety-second shake-offs and devices that promise to regulate you.
Both are talking about the same nervous system. Almost nobody translates between them.
That is the whole job here. Each week I read what actually published, pick four or five studies worth knowing about, and write what they found and what they do not show. Beside that I write about the work itself, which is the part no paper covers.
How the studies get here
Trial registries and the literature are monitored every week. What surfaces gets read, and everything read gets a record with quoted lines, whether or not it makes an issue. Studies that were only read as an abstract are labelled on the page as abstract only, because abstracts overstate findings and you should know which ones I could not read in full.
More detail on how studies get here. If something on this site is wrong, write and tell me and I will correct it and say that I have.
